Phoenix finally off the mark

Phoenix ladies finally claimed their first win of the season on Tuesday evening as they edged out fellow strugglers Birmingham A's at Weavers.

Both sides went into the game without having tasted victory during the season so far and it was the hosts that triumphed to move off the bottom of the table.

The Sterling twins, Crystal and Naomi, led the way in the scoring for Phoenix, with 18 and 13 points respectively to help Wellingborough close the gap between themselves and safety.

Currently they find themselves two points behind London Mets, who overcame them 61-52 at home on Sunday. Phoenix now head to Wales to face UWIC Archers on Saturday.
